Viper remote start /alarm 5706V install help 7.3 diesel

Hey just was wondering if anyone has installed the Viper 5706V remote start / alarm on a 2000 F350 7.3 power stroke super-duty lariat. over $$500 to install at local shops.

If there's a PATS system on your truck (and I think there is, from 99 on...) - there's extra "bits" needed for a remote start, and the programing can be a pain in the ***. For example, my '06 F150, the shop was 2 solid days getting the PATS bypass modules connected, and working correctly.

I don't know what labour rates are like in your area, but $500 would be about a 1/2 day's labour around here, which probably isn't out of line, if they do a clean, and proper installation.

Here are some wiring locations if you install yourself.

You don't have pats no super duty did till 08 but all excursions did not that that matters to you just an FYI.

Not so sure on that - I know PATS was available on 250's as early as '99... Doesn't mean the OP's truck has it - just saying I'm not sure he doesn't either.

Anyways - we're getting off the intended track here...

I still think the $500 quotes OP's getting to install a remote start and alarm are reasonable and in line with the effort involved. I haven't installed an aftermarket alarm or remote starter myself in well over a decade, and even then, with all the sensors, safety systems, and computer controls involved; it was getting to be a complete PitA. I wouldn't want to install one myself, anymore. I'm also too old to be folded up under the dash, upside down, trying to trace the column harness...
