Just picked up 15qts of Motorcraft diesel 10W-30 oil because I couldn't find any of the oils listed on various CJ-4 compliant or new Ford compliant lists for the 6.7L Powerstroke. So... It's not synthetic but it's Ford's brand so i should be fine, right? I can't find any of the listed oils in Anchorage; should i stick with this? Go with Amsoil? What? Thanks for your thoughts..
Rotella here also. I think most people are using it. If you can get it that's what I would do. And when you do that first change install some type of drain valve. You will be glad you did.
Sorry; clarification:. I've had the truck 3 years and have used Rotella T-6 up until Ford changed their requirements and stated CK-4 oils are now no bueno. I'm trying to figure out what to switch to...

I was lucky enough a few weeks ago to find the old style CJ-4 at Tractor supply, but I suspect that future changes for me will be with Valvoline Premium Blue - at least until Ford and Shell come to some sort of agreement.
I've chosen to use the motocraft 10/30 as well until this settles out. On shells website they have expressed their commitment to meet Fords spec. I'll use mc until that occurs.
Ive been using it in my old 6.0 and current 6.0. Almost to the first oil change on the 6.7 and im leaning twards it on it as well. I figure it whats already in the truck why not.
I did similar, only I went with the 15w-40 MC. I would bet that Shell does eventually meet the ford requirements, but until then MC is what I will be running
I noticed that for Shell the only approved oil on Ford's list is the 10W30. I have a gallon container of this oil and noticed it has the API SM rating instead of the SN rating which reduces Zinc and Phos. to even lower numbers.
