Going in the Morning to Order a New F150

That's right.
I am taking the plunge and for the first time in my life I am actually ordering the truck rather than taking stock.

Any suggestions? Any tricks? I am lucky enough to be eligible for X-plan, other than that I am clueless.

I see that there are some on here who can track the progress of builds. How do I get in on that??? When I asked my salesman who is old enough to know the guy that invented color, I just got a blank stare.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

It is very exciting to order! That is what I did with my current 2012 SuperDuty...and it's the only way to go...IMHO.

Build and configure dozens of trucks from FORDs website...and get the options that you want and what you are willing to spend.

Good luck...and enjoy the experience!

I can't help, but good! Get what you want the first time is all I know. I did that, but dealer had mine on lot.

I ordered my truck as well. I can't see ever buying a vehicle off the lot again unless it's exactly what I want. The tracking system isn't reliable and there's not much the dealership can do about it that I'm aware of. Just have fun tomorrow and don't fall for the "Well, we can work a great price on this truck here..." trick.

I already did my homework yesterday when the salesman had me a his desk for two hours trying to find one in the region..... I finally told him that i was done with that and I think a part of him was relieved.

For starters, do you know which drive train you want? Are you still towing a TT?

I think the best advise that was given was to go on Ford's website and configure what you want. Take that to the dealer with your X plan PIN

Having said this, 2018 is bringing us a 3.0L diesel, are you interested in that? By then, the 10 speed transmission will be available across the entire line up.

Are you trading in the Expy? If so, it should fetch great money.

+1 to what Tim said. We looked over the trucks on the lot; looked over the brochures; cruised this forum. On and on. Finally, we came up what we thought was our "ideal F-150". There was nothing in the state of California that matched that.

So we went to the Ford web site and configured exactly what we wanted. Printed that out, and took it to the dealer. "Order that!" is what we said. They did. 7 weeks later we had our baby.

Not really diggin the Diesel. I am sure it is going to be an excellent choice for many, but now that they addressed the soot issues with the the new fuel injection system, I want that rocket motor.

Yes, I am trading in the Expy. They tried low balling me when I casually got up and thanked them for their time, they began changing their tune a bit. They want it so bad, they are willing to buy it regardless of a new vehicle purchase. The paint is flawless. As well as the interior. That plus it only has 25 k on the ticker had the used car salesman salivating at the idea of the trade.

I remember when you bought it, you were about the first on here to get the Ecoboost Expy. I'd hold out for top dollar and the demand more. LOL

X-Plan is already a good price, we have the same program. On a 2017 Ford isn't offering up much in they way of incentives for the customers or dealers. They probably will once the supply of 2016s drop. You could always ask for some extra items like a rubber bed mat, floor liners or oil changes.
Good clean trucks are easy for dealers to sell so top dollar is always in order. If you had your services done at a Ford dealer you should get a nice bump up on the trade in value.

I think I did well. I was able to wipe out the balance on the loan. I didn't have to worry about trying to sell it myself. I hate the idea having strange people meeting me or possibly finding out my address, or all of the other CL nightmares that Dateline NBC warns of.
They took her off my hands yesterday. BTW,if anyone wants a really good deal (like pay for shipping and they're yours) on my tow mirrors specific to the 2015 with BLIS, let me know.

The new truck is ordered. They are telling me 8 weeks. So we will see. The salesman was still trying to see if he could find one for dealer trade as I was going over the order sheet with the "specialist" who submits the orders.
When I get a chance, I will post up the website rendering of my config.... Not that it will be anything new, just something for me to be excited about.

I'll take your heated steering wheel, that is one option I miss in my current truck. I probably used that feature more than the heated seats. Your truck sounds nice, one of these days I'll add the towing mirrors to my truck.
