How did you remove wrinkles out of your new carpet?
Got new carpeting for my 79 from LMC. It comes premolded for the hump etc. but of course they ship it in a 8 inch square box and who knows how long it has been wadded up in that box. How do you go about getting all the wrinkles out so it lays flat and looks good??

As for Steam, it will help it lay flat sooner, but to be honest i wouldnt waste too much time as its alot of work. I would simply steam or iron the edge that fits under the door sill trim plate, and where the seat bolts up. This will make it easier to install and you can just let time do the rest. I installed mine 6 months ago and its just now settled to how it should be.

I ordered my new carpet with the thick mass backing, left it in the box an extra month or so until I was ready to install it. Unfolded it and the damn wrinkles never would go away. Tried ironing it on the back side, laying it out in 100 degree sun, and have had it now installed through two 100 degree summers, still has those damn wrinkles.

Heat Gun
I like my heat gun whenever I gotta make things pliable again. A hairdryer can kinda work, but you have to hover in one spot for way longer. The heat gun is almost immediate. You could also lay it on something black on a sunny day to add to Rick's suggestion. I also plan to get an oven off craglist for this kinda stuff when I have space in my shop.
Btw, watch how close that heat gun tip is to your material. I bet the fuzzy side of your carpet will melt together if you hold it too close.
