Don't knock your boots below the door...

up here in the cold north where the snowfall has been plentiful I have been having fun doing alotnof snow removal. My long habit up knocking my boots bellow the driver side door to knock as much snow and salt off before getting in has shown how vastly different the almimnjm bodied SD is. I've always done this on my 2009 and 2012, never making a ding or dent.... well I noticed this the very first day. Needless to say won't be knocking my boots in this spot anymore.

I thought the Al was supposed to be more dent and ding resistant.

I usually knock mine on the running boards.

Thats my new spot to knock em.... just taking getting used to after many years of the other way. I also got my first dent in my truck as well while snow plowing.... when pushing a pile up, -a frozen chunk broke free and rolled down and around and put a small dent at the very bottom/front part of my driver door.

What? I do this all of the time. I probably have some dings on mine as well. I have the retractable running boards so using them will take a little more aiming-lol. So much for more dent resistant.

well that sucks. At least it is not visible from the outside when the door is shut.

I wonder if you have room to mount a small piece of flat bar stock to reinforce that area and knock away?

Good to know Ryan. Thanks. I do the same when I get in my truck. I'll have to watch.

I do a lot of snowplowing....I do it differently.

I step on the running board up into the cab and sit down with both feet facing out the door instead of straight ahead. Then I just kick my boots together a few times to remove the snow, then swing my legs inside the cab. I do the same on every vehicle I've ever owned.

That sucks!

Maybe you can get one of those putco door trim things that they sell on ford parts to cover it up.

I can't believe they are that easy to dent though.

Thanks for the heads up.

I planned to run the SuperDuty version of these to prevent scratches like I have on my 2011 caused from muddy boots and such. Looks like they'll probably help with dents too.

That's too bad. Ford insists the Al body is as good or better than the steel in terms of dent resistance. I wonder if it's only for the exterior panels.
