F150 or F250
Hey guys. Question: Should i buy 2011 F150, 43000 miles, 4x4, XL; OR 2006 F250 SuperDuty, 6.0 Diesel, 93000 miles Lariat. Have heard bad things about 6.0 diesel. Do not NEED a diesel or 3/4 ton for that matter (just WANT one!) but do on occasion have to move a JD tractor. F150 is XL plain jane and very clean. F250 is loaded and PRISTINE. I just don't want to get "stuck" with costly diesel repairs. Thanks!

Interior-wise, there is nothing wrong with too clean unless it's an obvious replacement.

We have a 3.7 f150 company truck. Runs very strong and has been trouble free. This is obviously going to be the cheaper truck to drive and maintain.
The 6.0 is nearing the end of its build period, and a lot of the problems were worked out by 2006, but its reputation was already ruined. If I was going to buy a used diesel out of warranty, it would be a 6.0. Do your research on buying a 6.0 in the 6.0 section. You need a scan gauge to measure oil and coolant temps. Check for signs of coolant puking, you can check for head studs, deletes and tuners. If you can't do this, have it looked at by a reputable diesel mechanic that knows the 6.0. The 6.0 made good power and got good fuel mileage.
If you buy the 6.0, you are going to want to keep a good amount of money available for repairs, and that's going to come with any modern diesel out of warranty in my opinion.
The f150 is a newer plain truck with a base v6, and still has a lot of value left to loose. The 6.0 is older, but a loaded out diesel. It's going to retain its value longer if you take care of it.
Two totally different trucks, I would not buy either for my needs, but forced to choose, it would be the 6.0. I would plan on spending money on it to get it dependable. Maybe everything's already been done? You haven't given us a price, so both could be way over priced.

No, the 6.0 is not bad. Well, if it's a abused it can be. However, if cared for and you watch coolant temp, oil temp, FICM voltage the nightmares can be minimized.
Now, how big a John Deere tractor are you moving?
I like F150s. I do not like pulling trailers with one. I like heavier brakes, suspension and driveline parts that a super duty offers.
