What's it Worth Guys?
Ok, so I'm going to sell my 2000 F250 Lariat. Wife hates it because of how rough it rides and honestly it is more truck than I need for a daily drive. Will be going back to a F150.
2000 F250 Lariat V10 4x4 23,800 miles SB extended cab. Every option available including 4:33 gears, Heavy duty suspension, undercoated from day one, custom grill, bedliner, tanou cover and cold air intake. 285/75/16 BFGs that are like bran new. This truck was a 1 owner (who I have known since being a kid) before I bought it and is almost in perfect condition. Only issue is the cruise control works intermittently. Located in NE Indiana.
What do you think is a fair asking price? Thanks Guys!

Yep the original owner only put 20,800 miles on it and now it has right around 23,800 miles. I have 2 dealers giving me $12k apiece for it however they don't have anything I'm willing to trade it for in my price range yet. I really cannot express how like new this truck is. It's one of those old man, babied trucks that a not so old man owned. The aftermarket grill comes off very easily as well if someone doesn't want it on there. Thanks for the info guys.

I am guessing before setting a price, you know to get the book values off the Internet and see what others are asking for similar models.
As I see it, you have an ultra clean ultra low miles truck so that is its calling card. It also has a V-10 engine, regarded as another plus by many and it is a Ford, as they say, America's best selling truck, and it is fully optioned.
Downsides are it is not a crew and you are selling in the Christmas season (not sure about this last point, you didn't say).
I would start the asking price as well above what you think you need to get for it. You can always come down in price, but it is much harder to go up. For example, NADA says this truck is worth about $10,000 average retail. Try to get $15,000, but ask $17,500 and put it on Craigslist with a number of good quality pictures and write a good descriptive ad. Be sure to put the rear end in the ad and advertise it both in the truck section and in the RV section as you have a great tow package for someone who doesn't want a 7.3, but likes an older truck.
I can absolutely guarantee you any serious buyer is going to try to deal you down on the price, so make sure you have wiggle room.
I know folks will say you are crazy on the asking price, but give it three to four weeks and if it doesn't move you can drop the price.

Here in North East Tennessee also.
Here is the problem with asking for pricing suggestions on FTE, IMHO not just in this case, but many others I have read. We are all pretty much Ford truck guys and there are not many of us who represent the average impulse buyers who will go gag gag over the low miles and like new condition of the OP's truck.
I have never dealt cars or trucks, but have been involved in buying and selling RVs and it has often amazed me how much folks are willing to drop on a purchase they know nothing about. I think the OP's truck is going to push all the right buttons for those types of buyers.

Keep in mind that a dealer may be "showing" you $12k on a trade, but they're going to make up anything they "overpaid" you on trade value by being less willing to move on the price of their truck.
As we all know, it's a big game. The best you can hope for is not to get stuck as bad as the next guy.
Maybe Frantz could chime in with a dealer perspective.

I agree...
Super Clean, low mileage, V10, 4:33 gears.. all a big Plus. and fully loaded.
do NOT be in a rush.. take your time, IF YOU CAN. to sell it.
and ask dealer to Find a truck you want.. they can shop for you.. and if you Deal, so will they. Honest ones anyway.

Believe me guys I have done my fair share of playing the game with dealers. The dealer I plan to buy from I have bought about 5-6 vehicles from. The sales manager is my neighbor and they make "very little" money of me. They have always been straight with me. I have someone coming today to look at it as a private sale. If I can make some more money off it then I will. I was actually planning to ask $15k for it and see where I land. I just like to see what other areas are getting because with today's technology selling a truck across the country is much easier. I always said if you want a deal on a truck buy from TX and a deal on a motorcycle then buy from FL. It's the whole supply and demand thing. Thank you all for your input it is greatly appreciated. I will let you know what happens. Can't wait to get back into a F150.
