Bought used, when should I do the first maintenance?

I bought a 2014 F150, 3.7L about 2 weeks ago from a Ford dealer. According to Carfax, this truck was orginally sold by this dealer and has had only 1 owner. They told me all the required maintenance has been completed. The mileage is 28600. Looking under the hood the oil looks very clean and it has a very clean Motocraft oil filter. What do you think I should do? Any other maintenance I should consider?

I always do all standard maintenance when I buy a new vehicle.

I also just bought a new truck, and I will be changing the oil, filters, and spark plugs.

I'd check the oil life meter. They should have reset it when they did the service. That would give you a benchmark by which to gauge when you want to Change it.

At 28,600 I'd just do oil and oil filter and check the air filter. Reset the life meter in the display as he mentioned. ^^

You've got a while to go before you'll need to do diffs, trans, and t-case if you have one.

Agree with what others have said. You have many miles left before you need to do any maintenance.

If they told me the service work was done and the oil and filter seem to back that up I'd drive it 5000 miles and start my own service.

This is probably just me, but I would change the oil and filter myself now.

I do all my own oil changes. I know the mechanic and trust him.

When I bought my (used) 2012 5.0, certified, I looked at the paperwork and saw that the oil change was done with 6 quarts of 5w-30, rather than the prescribed 7.7 qts of 5w-20.

Was this a paperwork error ? Not sure.

Was it overkill ? Perhaps.

Do I know exactly what viscosity and amount of oil was used ? YES !

This is my policy with all used vehicles that I purchase.
