Be careful cleaning

Your A pillars on your truck. I took my truck in to get the windows tinted yesterday. Took a pic of it out in the sun and realized they had scratched the hell out of the A pillars.

The guy showed me the rags they use in house at their facility this morning. It is a micro fiber rag that you can buy that has the little squares on them. These are typically used to do "windows" with. I personally would never wipe my truck with this type of rag, and let him know the same. I do powder coating for a living, and let him know that these rags are good for wiping windows and getting them clean, but I would never use them on a painted surface.

They said they were going to make it right, just pisses me off. I had the truck less than 24 hours prior to going to get it tinted. Less than a 100 miles on it, and I haven't even washed or put gas in it yet. ****!

Point is, the pillars between your doors will scratch very easily.

I think I am going to get mine wrapped or body color painted for a fix.

Anyone had any success wrapping a part like this with a body color wrap? The whole vehicle wrapping is all Greek to me.

It may be an issue with the paint being so new. I would bet you can bufff that out, assuming they didn't scratch it down to the primer.

I would start with a real mild compound on a soft cloth and see where you end up.

Body wrap

Thanks for the info!
I have been too busy to get mine in for a wrap.

I have put maybe 800 miles on it in two weeks.
As it just sits and waits for attention

Mine is booked for a front warp. Wednesday the 7th. I will ask to get the pillars wrapped as well.
I am getting the complete hood, bumper, lights,
right up and around the windshield to the front part of the
moonroof.& windows tinted.

Staying away from 3M as I believe there are better products out there!!
Was not real happy with 3m on the 2 2015's we had done.

I wanted a complete wrap. The price was 4K Canadian.
at that price I think I could get the truck repainted.

I will post before and after shots this week !

thanks again for the info

be careful don't rub too hard!

I hand cut my 15 platinum with menzerna 4000
a few wipes I was getting black colour on the off the truck!
It helped to clean and straight the orange peel for a deep shine. But I don't think there more than a mist of paint on these trucks!

Yeah, I think that's what he meant.

A pillars (at windshield)
B pillars (between doors)
C pillars (At end of cab)

Thanks for the info.

Yeah, the dealer scratched the hell out of mine (B pillar). I didn't notice it until I got it home. Lots of swirls .

I had the black plastic B pillars done with Xpel when I had the front end done. I have had this done on my two Range Rovers as well. Had the Rovers Opticoated, but provided it no protection for the black plastic. This stuff scratches if you look at it the wrong way.

Mine too. Must be the buffing wheel during prep. They look like crap in the sun.
