2011 f150 XLT dual climat control mode issue
I bought this truck this past summer and love it. Winter rolls around and I need defrost and wouldn't you know it doesn't work. I look under the dash and the actuator is missing. SOOOO I got to ford and by one and install. After pulling the fuse and disconnecting the battery overnight to be safe, I turn the key and after the 30 seconds all I have is defrost. I monkey around with it for a little while, pull the actuator leaving the wiring connected and it only moves one direction, clockwise, and only every few times I press the mode button. I cant find a pattern. What do you think? the remote control panel or the other main box under the top of the dash? I hear the top box has to be programed...

It's a bit confusing...you say the actuator was missing? Did the truck originally come with dual-zone climate control? Which trim level is it? Lariat?
I think this is gonna require a scan tool that can see the individual modules and give you live data. You need to see what the climate control module sees in order to figure out what's going on here.

I understand. So your thinking a dealership trip might be in my future? I hate to throw parts at this. The way I understand it, there is the control panel with the buttons and it controls the actual brain box that is mounted under that tray on top of the dash. I was hoping someone could give me a process to eliminate one or the other as defective. Everything else works fine as far as I can tell.
