Clockspring?`

So I don't have my manual right now, but i got my 96 f150 from my brother.

horns dont work, cruise control doesnt work, and the airbag light is blinking

He says its the clockspring. Can anyone confirm this?

I was looking one up at work, and they are like 200 bucks and special order...

Plus they dont look fun to replace.

Whats the word guys?

You can get a Dorman clock spring for a little over $60 at most stores.

The one for my '94 was $35.99 at Advance with the discount code. For either '95 or '96 the price about tripled.

These should be the same for 94-96 since they all have an air bag.

Airbag light started blinking 6 months and cruise control and Horn just quit working.

I went to O'Reilly's to look for a relay and the guys said that when they put in Horn and cruise control at the same time it pulled up a connector issue on the screen, does anybody know anything about that?

The blinking is a code.

X number of blinks, pause, Y number of blinks. Longer pause, repeat of sequence.

If you lost cruise & horn, chances are, it is the clock spring that needs to be replaced.

Start at the top of this thread & re-read & watch video.

That's not the answer I wanted to hear, LOL.

I tore my whole steering column apart about a year ago and replaced a bunch of broken and worn out parts.

So it looks like I'm going to get to have a little more fun.

Thank you!

Well if you've rebuilt a column, you're one up on me.

I plan on grabbing a complete one from the JY just to have on hand & practice eventually.

Welcome to FTE.

Welcome to FTE.

Thank you and I started to get nervous because I did not take pictures or record anything and kept finding broken Pick-n-Pull Parts all the way to the firewall.

Up until 2 years ago I had never even changed oil before .Since then I've saved almost $4,000 in labor working on this truck.

I tell you, YouTube is a godsend for me!

Oh and these forms of course . . .

Innate talent &/or the lack thereof and who it chooses to bless or curse never ceases to amaze me.

Glad you got a bit of it.
