Hood rattles when closing

It seems the adheasive between the structure of the hood and the top sheet metal has come undone and rattles when you close it. At one point it looks like the PO tried to tac weld it in a couple spots. Those have busted and caused some pin holes in the hood (probably during the welding).

What should i use use to fix this? Some kind of high heat adheasive?

Panel bond from 3M, Valvoline Plio Grip, or SEM will work. You will need to clean the faying surfaces and scuff them as well. Try to apply pressure to get some squeeze out and hold it there. The come in different work and cure times. I would advise you get the 60 or 90 min work time

Those areas may have a built up of greasy oil dust that would keep any form of epoxy sealer to re-bond the two back as one unit.

So the under areas would have to be pushed back into place and held for a time for the epoxy to dry/cure.

I've used some types of seem sealers that harden that may do the job
that I've found online an ordered.

May be Jeff or Bill can give you more info on using this epoxy.

I don't know what Ford used back then. I can tell you what Ford suggests using for bonding metal surfaces now. Like the bond on door skins now-a-days. Ford Motorcraft part number TA-1 in a 1.7oz tube. It is a 2 part epoxy coming out of a single tube. Both sides would have to be pushed at the same time so it needs Ford Rotunda part number 501-040 applicator gun or equivalent.
*easy to use formula creates uniform bondline thickness every time despite differences in clamping technique.
*tough modifies acrylic formula.
*For bonding cold rolled steel, galvanized steel, aluminum and scuffed e-coat covered steel.
*Built in color indicator turns from beige to green when initial set has been achieved.
