Yesterday I've taken away the`piece of hard carton which is under the roof of my truck in order to paint it and I found out a kind of cushion seemingly made of wool or similar material.


I wanted to know if any of you guys know what's the composition of that thing, if it would eventually contain asbestos, in this case I'd dump the whole thing...

Asbestos? Quite possibly. Dump the whole thing? go look at the cancer-causing ingredients in your food, and even the paint your using (ISOCYANATES=cyanide) go dump those first, then get rid of your truck project.


Put on a dust mask, rip that crap out and re-install some aluminum/foam sound deadener.

 

I didn't mean to be this radical, I know about all other dangers, specially in food and plastics and when possible I try to avoid crap.

For the sound deadener in our trucks I find it pretty ''disturbing'' to drive around with that thing right over my head (and my nose) if it has asbestos...and, yes, I think it's a good idea to install some foam instead...

 

I'm pretty sure that asbestos was on its way out by then, and sound deadening material in the roof of a vehicle doesn't really sound like a likely place you would find it anyway.
