1997 f-250 7.3
Just went and looked at a 1997 f250 7.3 with 126,000 miles. Got a couple questions about it. At about 70 mph it starts to vibrate a bit until i push the clutch in. I also brought an el cheapo obd2 code reader with me, when I hooked it up it made the motor stall and misfire, but ran perfect before and after i tried scanning. It also said there were 124 codes but none in the module. There are zero lights on the cluster but who knows if the bulbs were pulled. Just looking for some opinions from guys who own these trucks.

I have the exact same truck same color, short bed 5, speed power stroke XLT with 134,000 miles I even have the vibration mine starts at about 65mph its slight a small buzzz and small blurr in the mirrors, I suspect its the two piece flywheel getting loose, I plan a complete clutch job soon.
BTW this might not be accurate but when I bought my truck 18 years ago the salesman told me that the XLT ,Short bed, 5 speed ,Power Stroke combination was rare not often found , a unique truck yours is the first I have seen like mine.

Most cheep code readers, and the ones found at most parts houses, do not "speak" powerstroke, and killing the engine when trying to read codes is one of the things that tell you the code reader is not compatible with the truck. If the truck still has the original dual mass flywheel, it sounds like it is on its last legs, and should be replaced soon. A single mass conversion kit (flywheel clutch disc and pressure plate) can be had for less than a replacement dual mass flywheel. At 126K miles that truck is just a baby.

That looks like a truck well loved by the previous owner. You should be able to negotiate a new clutch or the value off that sticker at least. I bought my truck from a dealer three years ago, and found he could have sold the truck many times over if financing was available, but since these trucks are twenty years old the banks will only lend a third of this price. It will sit there until a cash buyer steps up. At least the dealer could have washed it before the photos.

Does that truck have the XLT trim package? I can't post a pic for some reason but I have the same truck and have never seen the same , the one you prospect is the first , at the mileage it reports that truck is indeed a rare find and keep in mind we are darn near twenty years old now the good solid body low mileage trucks are worth a premium , that truck is worth the money I doubt you find the same in the 7,000 dollar range
