I dropped my transmission pan on my 4x4 c6 to put a new gasket on, and the kit comes with a filter. So i swapped out the filter, replaced the filter gasket with a metal one that apparently doesnt require any sealer... And then bolt it all back up. What i didnt realize is that I hadnt pulled out the small tube from the old filter and put it into the rubber grommet on the new one. Im assuming its for sucking the fluid from the bottom of the pan into the filter?
My question is... Do I need to pull the pan off and scrape all 'the right stuff' gasket maker off, and buy a new gasket so i can put that 1 1/2" tube in?

Yes scrape it off, new gasket and install gasket without the "right stuff". If you do need it to seal with that type of sealer there are other issues, bent up pan?

 

Some of the bolt holes were bent like they had been tightened way too much. I hammered them each down flat. I just figured to be safe and not have any leaks. That tubes gotta go in eh?

 

Yes drop the pan and install the tube!! Also make sure to clean sealer off all surfaces and straighten out pan flange (where bolts go) , make sure none of the sealer got sucked up into the filter, this is bad because you can starve front pump of oil and cause trans failure !!!! Be sure to use gasket and NO SEALANT of any kind.

Yes, regarding my 89 f250. Transmission hasnt been run or anything theres still no fluid in it. Transmission is sitting on my work bench.
