c6 3rd gear vanishing act

In my f100 the c6 had low miles on a rebuild and sat for probably 10 years, I have put around 14k miles on it since I got it. I have had a issue with it having a random delayed/flared 3rd shift point if Im getting on it and miss letting off the throttle to let it shift. I have kept a eye on the fluid since it leaks all over the place, its about 1/2 quart for 2k miles and use type f. A week ago it stopped auto shifting into 3rd and have been manually shifting it to 3rd, when doing that it will then auto 3-2 and 2-3. I got a superior R servo since I was unsure what I had and did not spend a lot on it, dose anyone know this r servo i pulled. The fluid that came out the servo housing had a lot of metallic shavings and smelt burnt, I also think the spring was installed backwards. I got 3rd back and in due time I will see if I still have delayed/flared 3rd shift, it has always had a hard 1-2 and 2-1 shift. This c6 has a transgo shift kit and I have a B&M kit in a valve body sitting from a wide band build I never completed.

left superior and right unkown

When you have metal shavings in the fluid, that means metal-on-metal rubbing. This is a bad thing and should not be happening. It doesn't matter where you find the metal shavings, they're coming from the rotating parts of the transmission. The transmission needs to be disassembled, inspected to find the worn parts, replace them, and reassemble correctly. If you don't do this now, you will just keep destroying the transmission to the point where it cannot be repaired.

I was able to rebuild my transmission successfully from watching a few videos on youtube on how to disassemble, inspect, and fix. I won't lie to you, it was a tough repair. There were lots of heavy parts, lots of time spent removing gasket material, lots of time spent organizing small parts and studying them to figure out how things work. It took me a few days to get it all done but it was worth it.

yea this transmission is not hard to tear down, I have clutch packs with E4OD planetaries sitting. so if I tear this down I would want to install the wideband set, just would want to order a sun thats deeper. It would be be a few a weeks before I can cover this, need to pay for other things first.

Yes! That's the very video I watched multiple times before (and during) my rebuild attempt!

look that he needs a bigger bench and he ripped that baby apart in sort order. this is not my first rodeo with one these and will finish what I started since I still got the e4od core in storage. man 7 years since i abandoned that build, just hope I had not misplaced anything. Ok I got a 5 forward and would want to order a 5 direct as well.
