Time for new 15" Tires!

Ok- while my truck is at Terry's F100's for the body work, Bruce pointed out the weather checking on my 205/75/15's that just happen to be 20 years old! So it' time to find some new tires-hopefully taller tires that will help overcome the 3.9 rear end ratio. What's the tallest tires that you guys might be running that won't make me look like I'm driving a clown car (truck)? Thanks in advance!

Your 205 75 R15 are on average 27" diameter, one of the most common stock tires sizes on our F-100 trucks was the bias ply 6.70 R15's with an average diameter of 28.4"

The 235 75 R15's have an average diameter of 28.9" So just a .5" larger than a 6.70 15.

If you want an even larger tire you can go to a Bias Ply 8.20 15 or a 7.00 15 truck tire averaging a diameter of 29.6"

Coker makes bias look radials they are bias ply dimensional sizes but with a radial carcass. The advantage of that is it keeps the look of the original tires and the narrow tread width of the bias ply's that helps keep the steering lighter in non power steering equipped trucks.

If you want to match the size of the 6.70 15's then a 225 75 R15 is pretty close with an average diameter 28.5"

For years I ran 235-75R/15s, a very common size on many trucks in the 70s-90s. My last go around I went with 225-70R/15s to closer match the original bias tire size and hoping to make for a little easier steering. After mounting on the truck, I couldn't believe the difference in appearance it made with such a small difference in section width and diameter. I had to remove them and trade them back for 235-75/R15. Everyone has a preference, this is just mine.
