Adaptive Cruise... does it have Stop & Go?

Hello Everyone,

Just curious if someone could confirm if the adaptive cruise has the new stop & go feature... where it will actually stop and resume in traffic. Currently most Ford's like the F-150 have adaptive cruise that will shut off when the vehicle slows to about 12 mph. Not sure why it was such a hard thing to have from the get-go.

Living on the 405 in Southern California having the stop and go feature would be awesome... so many econo-boxes have this feature and it seems a shame a 65K-plus truck does not.

I hope so, Wife's '15 Fusion has it, Nice feature but a little unnerving the first time you use it.

I really hope so too... other employee work vehicles like the Ram 1500 has had the stop and go feature for sometime. It's not like I am asking for Tesla Autonomous Driving features but bring the car to a complete stop pretty please.

Unfortunately from what I can tell online it seems the Fusion is the only Ford vehicle to implement it so far.

It will stop but shuts off below 12MPH. To restart you have to get above 20MPH. My wife has a Durango and it will stop and go all day. Ford failed a little here.

Giant bummer... yeh I've been in 5 year old cars that have this feature. Fiat/Chrysler has this pretty standard all over their line up. Probably something you'd see in MY 2018.

I wish it stopped too, but well into my top 5 feature list regardless. It's awesome.

Ford has some "reasoning" behind not coming to a complete stop and then going. It's been this way every since Ford introduced adaptive cruise control on Lincolns about 7 years ago.

I have no idea why. To keep you awake?

I intentionally passed on this feature for my 2017. We have it on our Lincoln, works pretty well - but, cruise control works very hard to maintain "exactly" your set speed. That means coming down hills, the car rides the brakes. That uses up brake pads a lot faster and annoys the crap out of drivers behind you. A car with standard cruise control does not have control over braking and will downshift in an effort to slow down.

TFL tested the 450 up and down the IKE Gauntlet using the adaptive cruise. It maintained its preset speed all the way down, but they smelled burning brakes at the bottom, even with the exhaust brake set to auto.

I can think of a few scenarios where the full stop could end badly. I have followed someone off of an exit ramp out on 65 and came up to the stop light and just let it come to a crawl. If I forgot the adaptive cruise was engaged I imagine if a car got out from in front of me, the truck would mash the accelerator and try to bring me back up to 70+ mph.

Haha, good point...but of course, some other car brands do use the full stop and go. From what I have seen with the Lincoln...resume acceleration is hardly "full throttle" but it does get moving pretty well.

I understand the safety need of pushing the gas pedal to go again. However it should fully stop and then go once I touch the gas pedal. This way user input is needed to go again and all I have to do is tap the gas.

The fusion only holds it for 3 seconds if you come to a full stop, so you need your foot ready over the brake. It will shutoff after the 3 seconds are up. Also I dont like how it stops, not smooth. the car slows down and start to apply the brakes then it kind of decides "uh oh I am getting too close" and hits the brakes hard. And going down hill it will constantly pump the brakes to keep your speed down. I hope the exhaust brake cures that on the 6.7.

Just a question for information. Normal cruise control cancels by even the slightest tap of the brake. Does the adaptive cruise control cancel as well? Or does it ignore the signal and take off again?
