turbo coolant leak

the same day that i noticed my coolant temp was running high as i was driving around in my 2011, i was driving around in my corn field cutting wood and i noticed i was dragging something under the truck. when i got out and looked under the truck, there was coolant running down all over the bell housing and oil pan. i was a bit worried that it was my head gaskets leaking but once i got it in the shop and looked at the heads, all looked good. i wasnt sure where it was coming from! so i looked up common coolant leaks on the 6.7 on youtube. first video was one of the coolant line on the turbo leaking. so i crawled up on top and shoved a mirror down by the turbo and sure enough i could see coolant leaking around the connector fitting coming out of the turbo. apparently the gasket goes bad around this fittind allowing it to leak. i was just wondering if this is really that common of an issue - have any one you had it happen or heard of it happen? it only cost me $17.00 for parts because i did the work myself. and its not really that hard to get to the turbo, its just time consuming removing all the crap around it. all i had to do was remove some connectors that were attached to the plastic intake and remove the intake then you can reach into that fitting. total time was around 2.5 hours.

So why didn't you have it repaired under warranty?

Was it the coolant supply line leaking or the turbo gasket leaking? If the supply line, was it leaking at the turbo end or the coolant manifold end?

Probably the same reason as a lot of us!! We blew through warranty a long time ago

Not a repair I've heard much about. Something to keep my eye open for.

it was the coolant supply line going into the turbo.

Was the coolant leaking on the passenger or driver side engine valley? My truck is intermittently loosing coolant on the passenger valley dripping down the bell housing.

I assume you mean your truck was deleted at 16,000 and therefore the warranty was deleted too. If so I would of thought this repair would still be covered under warranty.

My 2011 had this problem around 130,000 miles.
As I searched on it, I found it was pretty common,

Hi RobRoy32,

I wanted to check in and see how things are going at the dealership. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see when you have any news.

Received the truck back yesterday, 12 days to fix, probably should have tackled it myself. Dealer informed me that it was not covered under Fords original warranty, but would be covered under my ESP extended warranty. just over $200, which is what my deductible is. So far so good, thought I smelled a little anti-freeze today, but may just be residual, as I didn't see any leaks dripping. Will be keeping an eye on it though.

Thanks for looking out Crystal.

You're welcome, RobRoy32. I'll continue to keep an eye on things here in case that antifreeze smell persists.

Would replacing this coolant supply hose be covered under the 60k mile powertrain warranty?
