Are you planning on doing the cummins swap yourself or letting a shop mess with it? I'm really considering a cummins swap when the 5.4 gives up.

Looks like a great start seeing as they are never finished. Since you have been on FTE you know we like pics. Maybe you can put some more of the exterior and interior. Would like to see those door panels. Also what's the specs on the wheels? I need to get rid of my 08+ since I can't lock the steering.

I'm not sure on the Cummins swap, I want to do it but I also don't really know enough. My girlfriends dad is doing one for his buddy though next month so I can always have him help.

I'll post up pics don't worry lol, I'll grab some more shots this morning. Also the wheels are -12 offset and I think they are 4.53 backspace but not sure sine the shoo that ordered them get them specifically for lifted truck....I guess there were two different kinds lol.

Here are a few quick pics i snapped it snowed for the first time this year today and while i was out taking pictures it turned to rain and started to down pour so i didn't get very good ones of the interior but tomorrow morning it is supposed to clear up so i will get some clearer ones then. Right now I'm watching my dog run around the back yard lol he's a rescue dog from Tennessee and he's turning 1 this month so he hasn't ever seen snow before...its hilarious to watch lol.

Also what do you guys think of my current tire/rim set up do you think it will be ok for winter driving? I'm still debating getting some winter tires for the stock rims. Also the current set up throws snow all over the side of the truck lol if it didnt start raining literally an hour ago it looked like i owned a brownish white truck lol.

Also as you can see i have a rip in my seat from getting in and out hence why i want katzkins lol

Personally I would get stock wheels and some snow tires and it might be better in the winter. Plus it will keep the salt (if they do that in your area) from ruining your new wheels. So the 08 door panels fit without rubbing or hitting anything?

I'm gonna have to agree with trav, if you have the stock rims I would get them with a set of 265 or 285s if you don't have to there's no point in subjecting your nice rims to the salt.

Also are you planning on swapping out the 5.4 when it dies or before that point

I have noticed on these SDs at least when me or my dad are driving 285s work better snow wise the 265s which is strange because usually in snow you want a narrow tire not wide.

I will most likely do the swap before the 5.4 quits so that I can sell it for more and lower the cost.

The 08 panels do rub on some trucks and don't on others it's wierd. Only my drivers side does but not the passenger. I'm not going to correct it since I'm swapping the dash come spring.

Do you guys have any tires you would recommend? My town started the liquid calcium this year...hate that crap.

BF Goodrich TA Kos are great mud, snow and all around tires. But for snow I would also ay goodyear wrangler duratracs. Those are my recommendations. As you have probably heard me say before don't get General Grabber AT2s they are the worse tire on the market in my opinion.

Lol those are the same two I have been looking at ill probably go with the duratracs since they can be studded and will be dedicated winter tires.

Ya our 97 expedition has them and being the expedition is so light it sucks in the snow but the goodyear duratracs help it out a lot.

If your looking into a Cummins swap, FordCummins is probably the best company for it. They sell a manual on how to do it. They make a swap friendly exhaust manifold which moves the turbo forward. They also have controllers for the transmission. Bolt on engine mounts. Nearly everything except intercooler and down pipe and a few other miscellaneous parts.

Diesel Conversion Kit Builder | Diesel Conversion Specialists

I've been looking into this for over a year. But probably won't do it. To me its not cost effective and to see any return would take several years. But if you want to go for it.

One other thing, I'm not sure if you have emission checks out there, but rule of thumb if you do is go with same year or one year newer engine if you have them. So if that's the case 5.9L Common rail is in your future. Other wise if not, the 12 valve is the way to go
