New guy with a 51-52? F1
Like the title says, not sure of the year. It was a "Field find" with no paper work (hopefully the owners will find some), I snapped a picture of the VIN, not a great pic but hope it's enough info, if anyone can help me out. Great site! thanks Puddle.

Yep. It appears to be a 52. What's left of your hood trim indicates that, as well as the 4th digit in the vin being a 2 pretty much sums it up; as long as it matches the frame number stamped on the top of the right frame rail, near the motor mount bracket. We also see it was built in Long Beach, CA. The first 3 digits in the VIN (not seen in the pic) should be F1 and then a letter with the engine code.
Welcome to the forum. Is this your new truck? What are your plans for it?

tinman52 & 52 Merc thanks for the info.
My plans are to get it running, rebuilt the carb today. The motor (straight 6) turns over and according to the Original owners the motor has approximately 10,000 miles on a re-build. It has been sitting in a field for well over 20 years. The body is extremely straight and rust free, for being a company work truck, the previous owners own a drilling company. My plan for the most part is to leave the paint and body as is, just gonna stop the rust. I will clean up the interior, maybe paint it to make it look pretty for my lady, that way she wont feel like she "Riding in a dirty old truck".
I only have one badge for the hood, it's round with F1 on it and it goes on the front over the spear. I have not seen any others like this, is it the wrong badge or a specific model?
Thanks again for your info and the welcome

Damn! those are two beautiful trucks. They made me rethink my plans. I have a question regarding stock wheels, what years would be correct for my 52? I come from the VW community and if you had a 53 Oval window, the wheels would be stamped 53, I know it sounds a little ****, just want to be correct.

Uh oh guys....we have created another addict. Nice going.
At least we have a nice support group here. Puddle - the therapeutic and enabling meetings occur every day and include comedy, solutions, money-parting races and good old fashioned camaraderie.
Welcome, and that is a nice solid truck to begin with.
When you get a chance put some details into your profile...location, name etc.

This pic shows two different styles. The smooth ones are correct. The red oxide ones with the hump around the hubcap is not.

Question about the stock wheel cover for 51-52 pickups. Was it black, body color, or a creme color like the grille? In 53 and 54 they were body color. In 55 and 56 the wheels were snow shoe white, the same color as the grille.
Those are 2 nice looking stockers....
