Hi, it just started today. 60 mph with light throttle pressure it bucks. If I back-off it stops, if I apply more throttle it stops even without kicking down. It does the same thing in "D" at about 35 mph. Any ideas please?
Check plugs & wires first. Then fuel system. sounds like a light misfire. Just diagnosed a Mustang 3.8 with similar problem, cause was faulty plug lead; in a dark garage it glowed & performed mini lightening strikes to the nearest ground on the dipstick tube (plug#5). New wires sorted the problem. Luckily engine is OBD2 & diagnostic code made this an easy fix. NO evidence could be seen with the naked eye that the wire was bad.

All original powertrain except alternator & starter motor. 335,000 kms & going strong !
When describing the V6 Vulcan engine, the word Bullet proof is not too much of an exageration !!! Just a little TLC goes a LONG way. Uses no oil, 10L /100km on h/way.
I would agree, a light misfire is the likely culprit. Under really light load shaking will be noticeable, but at higher RPM it may just even out enough to stop you from noticing it.
It feels a lot more like transmission or clutch hammering. At hard acceleration from 0-85mph the vehicle is very strong and smooth, nice idle too.
It's just at cruise conditions it's as if the trans doesn't know which gear to run.

Disconnected the TCC solemoid, problem gone. Now to decide if the clutch in the TC is bad or if it's a pressure or valving problem or if it's worth fixing.
Changed it, added the filter upgrade and a bottle of "Lube Gard" A snake-oil that comes highly recomended. The old oil was a little dark and some black goo in the pan. I'm going to scrounge up a pressure gauge and do a drive when the snow goes away. Looks easier to change the TC on this than on an Explorer with the big transfer case, so the cold weather gives me time to dither.
i'm a user of Lube Guard, usually just the Red
the Black and the Platinum can add to much friction modifier to the ATF especially these universals that are rate Mercon and Mercon V.
can make the TC slip shudder.
great product for cleaning and keeping clean valve bodies and these newer trannys with the pulse width modulated EPC Electronic Proportional Control valves that vary line pressure.
also helps to prevent ATF heat breakdown.
the stuff has made the rough shifting Honda autos bearable to drive.
Update, bored today and a lot of driving to do in city and on hiway so I plugged TC solenoid back in and no problem. Don't know what did it, new ATF, new filter or "Lube Gard" red. Fingers crossed because we really like this van.
I have the same problem. I just bought a nice 97, and right around 35 I get a shudder. I had a slow 02 sensor code, so I changed it, and it seemed to help, but it is still doing it some. Ill look into this more and report what I find.
