PS: Why are those "ram air" method's you mentioned no longer used? Hood scoops are effectice above what speed? A pipe under the hood pointing in front of the radiator or under a fender is effective...how? Mayby the 2010 Mustang GT should open up it's fake hood cowl and get more than 305 HP. K may really be on to something, that is not a slam to you K. Thinking outside the box is great. You may just find that sweet spot we all are looking for.

Here is a couple of good articles. Again my scoop is right next to the bottom of my radiator on the left side. The front of a 73 F100 is like a wall going through the air. There is cold massive air pressure right there, might as well use it for something. It's noticeable. I get my truck back this week so I will be putting the new carb and induction on soon. I will post some more picks.

That Mustang has a high performance intake for sure. But with fuel injection the hood scoop is for retro looks.

Actually, I mis wrote\spoke.. I ment to say that the 2009 mustang GT had 305 HP. Ford placed the same intake air induction system off the earlier Bullet mustangs into the 2010 GT to get up to 315 HP I believe. (a few other things to enhance overall performance were added as well) I could be off a little on the HP, I was into this issue awhile back and almost bought a 2010 stang...but the camaro and challenger came out...hmm That's why I backed off my earlier statement that you and Bear's ideas were flawed. Air flow, in and out, is a good thing.. Sometimes one cant see the forest for the tree's

QUOTE=Bear 45/70;8145693]Yeah, Kennewick lives on the dry side as we call it. I however live 45 minutes from Bremerton on beautiful Hood Canal.

As to the rain, we are under a "Flood Warning" and a "High Wind Warning"since yesterday. It has rained over 2 1/2" in the last 48 hours. That following about 3/4" a day for the two days before that. So to top it off, rain is likely thru Sunday. So bring your goloshes, umbrella (even though it is like to be inverted) and your slicker.[/quote]

Bear, you sure were correct! I was MISERABLE...Rain (hard\steady) everyday. I didnt take all the items you suggested.....I paid for that! Living on the Hood canal has to be awsome. Can you see the submarines go by? Did ya spit at one (me) this week

I live way south of the Sub Base. The nuke boats never come this far south. I did work at the Sub Base Bangor for a year back in the 80's though. I do however have a great view of the Olympics and Hood canal from my front deck.

Bear, Which of the three clear day's of the year did you take that awsome pic? Just kidding. Nice flippin view! I'd ALMOST give up sex for that view everyday.

PS, I can take care of that power line disrupting your view...place stump remover at the base of the pole, or something..

Sorry K. Back to the original topic...Where are the pic's? Looking forward to them. No negative comments from me, as long as the plenum colors match..)

Actually that pic was shot in December 2008. If the weather would would break, it would look pretty much the same though. Oh and with that view, you don't have to give up sex, the women go bonkers for it.

That explains why people continue to live there. LOL

Whatever results you get with the ram air concept, it's hard to go wrong with ducting in fresh air.

I see a lot of the go-real-slow guys take out the factory ducts and air boxes for a "cold air intake." I seem to remember advertising statements of dyno proven HP increase. I never looked up those dyno tests to see if they were conducted in a 200-plus degree ambient temp that the factory system operates in. I have seen them referred to as "hot-dirt intakes."

Those guys do some other things that seem counter-intuitive, but I digress.

No pics yet. I went over to the minimum facility where my truck is and they were still working on it. They had the new brake lines, cyl, hoses, fluid, drums, rotors etc. all finished. They were done with all of the ujoints and driveline center bearing. Rebuilt steering gear, wheel bearings. They where wanting to fix some of the electrical issues plus I gave them my freshly painted wheels to put on. So I gave them till Dec 8th That way they can finish up and the teacher can take it out for a test drive. I have my new carb spacer intake system ready to go as soon as I get it back. Those inmates are having a blast with the old truck. After the first of the year they want it back to rebuild my front end. I told them that would be ok but they would have to install my dream beams and drop bracket in the rear.

How many people/hours do they get to work on it? For some here, that was a weekend worth of work., or less I'm sure they are doing a good job with the teachers oversight, and just learning a trade. That is a good thing.
Ya gatta admit though, that last post about hidden compartments was funny.

It's a school. Not a production shop. They teach 1 system at a time and it's a year long. A lot of these guys have never even had a real job before.
I teach at the medium. It is very high security and dealing with tools is a huge concern every day. I have a tool inventory 3 times a day and the students have to stripdown twice a day and go through a clean room. I have just about every kind of offence you can imagine and white, black, mexican, asian and indian gang activity going on. I have guys that are 20 to 40 years old and it always starts the same like it's a game. But at around the time they start to learn how to wire control systems it dons on them that it's a real thing. A life changing thing and for the first time in their life they can see themselves being productive. It's really like that. But for me it can be very stressfull and very rewarding at the same time. I lose about 1/2 the class because of violence/gang activity/drugs but for the ones that make it, it is a good shot at a real life.
It's about as far from most peoples lives as it can get.
