Well now we get back to my original post on this subject. I have been adding Mystery Oil to my fuel/gas for years, does it help? I have between the current trucks and cars about 3/4 of million miles and not an engine problem in any of them. Maybe this Top Tier Fuel is good but if it is not at a standard level across the board. Just like big government/business to tell us they are here for you but then never really complete the task at hand.Once again "feel good" regulations. Every time I trust some else to do it for me, it never happens correctly. I'll take care of it myself. Chris

If that works for you, great.

My 2009 Ford manual specifically states not to add anything to the fuel system.

Just one question, did you actually read the Deposit Control Standards information on the Top Tier website?

Well, it looks like I've been using Top Tier fuel and didn't realize it. I noticed Chevron is on that list, but the reason I've been using it is that we have one (1) local station, a Chevron, which has NO ethanol in the fuel. That is the reason I've been using it. It's about .05 more a gallon, but I'll gladly pay it to stay away from the ethanol.

Of course, when I'm out of town, I'm pretty much forced to get whatever is available.

Ya like I drive into a station the other day and punched in my card and it asked if I wanted some friggan additive added to the fuel, I punched no and after filling started to read a sign way above the friggan pump so you could hardly see it, it stated the additive was $9.99, I just about $@#^!!! How do you know you even get the $@&* added to the fuel as you put it in???? What a friggan rip. It said it was additive to clean the valves ha ha!

$9.99? Holy crap. I've never seen or heard this before...what station was this?

It's probably STP and aimed at soccer moms.

Having posted that info i'll say 90% of the time i use Murphy @ walmart and have never had any issue's with the Expy or my diesel truck and i hand figure my MPG EVERY tank on both and HOW i drive make's a bigger diffrence on MPG than what's in the tank,Murphy does have at some station's on the pump the ability to add extra fuel cleaner to your gas while your pumping, price range's from a couple buck's up to around $10.00 and is spelled out on the pump as to what your trying to do,maintain your car/suv,or truck or clear up an issue,i sometime's put the minimum amt of cleaner in as it cost's less than (1) gal of gas

More than half of those sites listed do not own their own refineries. Where do you think their gas comes from? The open market. What guaranties do you have that the branded station your are buying your gas from is buying their product from the same terminal and getting the same additive every time. None. Its a crapshoot.
