1978 F600 VIN Decoding

Hello, I'm the proud new owner of my grandfather's old F-600 and I was looking through the place trying to find a VIN decoder but the ones linked only worked for the smaller trucks. I also searched through piecing together other's VIN's so I do know I have a 361 (I was pretty sure, but its nice to know). Anyway here's the VIN and any help decoding it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

VIN: 3128178 F60EVBC0464
W=176, C=T, Tx= F602 GAB A F3J19200 71

Thanks a bunch again everyone!!!

Plus a pic for fun...

Hi, iceberg210. Welcome to the board. I don't have '78 books, but I do have '77 and '79. So I went back and forth between the two and this is what I came up with: F600 with 361 c.i. 4 barrel carb. Assembled at the Kentucky Truck plant. 176 inch wheelbase. Candy Apple red paint. Black vinyl bench seat. Power steering. 19,200lb G.V.W. New process 435 4speed transmission. Eaton 15201 15,000Llb 2 speed rear axle with 6.33 and 8.81 ratios. The engine ccode was in the '77 book and all the rest was in both books, Hope this helps, does it sound like your truck?

WOW! Thanks a bunch! And yep that sounds exactly like my truck! It's red, black interior, and 361 FT under the hood with a 4 and split rear end.

Thanks again for the information and I find it interesting that it came off the factory with the current paint (color at least). It's also really interesting to know those ratios.

Thanks so much for the help!

No problem, glad I could help. Your truck is quite similar to my own. It's the '79 Rescue truck in the "We need pics" thread.

Yes that's a very nice rescue truck you have there. Quite a find with such low mileage. One quick question, do you know about what the empty weight on one of these old F600's was? For whatever reason my truck doesn't have an empty weight stamped on the door or what not...

Thanks again for all your help!

Mine weighs 9.500lbs ( if I remember correctly) with me and a half tank of gas in it, but I don't know how much of that is rescue box.
