There should be a sticker in the door jam of your truck. Mine is on the driver side in between the driver door and the back driver side door.

If you go to Tire Rack and enter your size, you'll get a list of tires. You can then select the tires you like, and click on specs, and see all the sizes and specs.

There are 14 tires listed, open up specs, like for example ... General Grabber AT2, available in 255/70-17, 640 AB UTOG rating, load rated 112S at 2469 lbs. at 44psi, 6.5-8.5 rim width, 10.2 section on a 7.5 rim, 31.1" diameter.

Down below in the chart is the same tire, size 265/70-17, 640 AB UTOG rating, load rated 115S, 2679 lbs. at 44 psi, rim 7-8", section 10.7 on a 8" wheel, just 31.7" diameter.

In 17" tires, about as high as it gets until you go for the heavy duty tires that need like 80 psi and will be hard as rocks on a F150.

I haven't seen many tires with LT designation in last few years. Now they are either Passenger .... or light truck / SUV tires, which get broken down into ... on road summer ... on road winter ... off road / all terrain ... and off road ... it seems.

Not recommending the Generals, just used for example. I have no experience with them.

I have General Grabber LT245/70R17s on my truck. I have an 08 F150 XL with the heavy duty payload package. Tires come stock on the truck. I only have 5000 miles on the tires, so I can't tell you how they are going to wear, but they ride nice. I just wish they had a little more of an aggressive tread pattern for the WI winters.

I have the same size and went with Bridgestone Duler AT Revo 2. So far so good but I probably only have about 1,500 miles on them.

Check out Tire Rack's site. They give all the specs on the tires they sell and have reviews and comparison ratings as well. You'll need to go up one size for a good LT tire selection. General does make an LT tire in 265/70x17 that is rated very well by Tire Rack as well as Consumer Reports. I'm probably going to get a set next year mostly based on these ratings and the fact that they have low rolling resistance for better fuel economy. I can't complain much about the General Americraps that came on my truck originally, but I know there are better tires out there for the money. They weren't real bad towing my 7000 lb enclosed trailer, but E rated would be better for towing. Even D rated on an F150 would be better. I can probably get 55000 miles out of those Americraps, but 40000 is enough for me.

I have the Dayton Timberline AT 2, load range C. I bought them last year in March and have about 35000 on them so far. I went up to a 265/75/17, and found more choices in that size, went with these due to a friend working at the tire shop got them to me for 136/tire, when the orig. price should have been 186 each. When I got them they had 16/32 tread depth, now I am showing 11/32 on them so they seem to be wearing well, I rotate them every other oil change. I had load range E tires on my old truck and it rode like a shateboard after that, I have hauled my 3500# popup down to texas twice now and have not had any issues, also put about 2500 miles on hauling my buddies 26' travel trailer.

I bought a brand new set of Michelins with the aluminum rims for $450 from a 2009 on Craigslist. Many people buy new trucks, upgrade the tires and rims and have a set of new tires waiting for YOU! Check it out if you are staying with the same size tire.
