+2005 Hub Bearing

Has anyone replaced their 2005 or newer F250 Superduty Hub bearing?

I'm trying to find out if these have a separately serviced needle
bearings. The reason I ask is that I've got qute a bit of play at
the stub shaft/u joint connection (It's not the U joint itself)...
and it's popped the outer axle tube dust seal.

I'm able to find that up to 2004 there was a separately
serviced needle bearing...though I can't find a listing for the
2005 or newer models. Also can't find a listing for the 2005 or
newer hub/bearing assemblies...making me think they're different.

Any info appreciated,
Geo.

yeah i just did the bearing that supports the stub shaft on the right wheel. 05 F350. the bearing had some play, the shaft seemed to have a lot of slop, new bearing made no difference in slop. the axle tube dust seal is best if installed in the garbage can just traps crap behind it the actual axle seal lasts just as long without it. if you install new bearings gently pry out the seal and put a couple extra shots of grease in, the sealed bearings have barely enough grease to coat the surfaces so the don't rust before you buy them. grease them now and never replace them again. if you haven't pulled it apart yet, i'd just leave it unless you have contamination in the vaccuum cavity. if you do pull it apart at some time and the stub bearings are ok then just grease them and save the 150 that ford charges for 2 bearings

Hi again nitrogen and thanks again for the info.
(just saw your reply to my second query).

Based on your observations...I may just put the rotor/caliper/bracket
and hub back together. Haven't had any problems as of yet.

Thought I might end up with a gear oil leak...but it looks like the
inner seal (located in the differential housing) prevents oil from
migrating down the tube. I'll sleep on it tonight and make a decision
in the morning.

Thanks again for the info,
Geo.

It's a lot of work replacing the axle tube outer dust seal. I would just leave it but you can grease the main hub bearing.
