Welcome to FTE
There were two variations of Explorer stripes used in 1979.
It depends on whether the truck was assembled at the Michigan Truck Assembly Plant....or not.
There is no orange/cream stripe listed for 1979.
1979 Explorer stripes: Gold/White / or / Tangerine/White.
Rather than going thru the time and expense of have the stripe made by a sign company, have it painted on.
This way...if it's damaged, it will be simple to just repaint it.
If...by chance you find a NOS stripe kit...do NOT buy it!
These stripes came with a paper backing which when peeled off....exposed the adhesive used to install it.
The shelf life of these kits is no more than a couple of years. Warm and cold weather played havoc with stripes.
It didn't take too long for the adhesive to dry out, which means...the backing becomes stuck to the stripe and cannot be peeled off.
