Engine info?

The engine was replaced in my truck before I bought it. The dealer told me this but had no info on the engine. The truck is a 2004 and the engine was replaced at the end of 2007. The engine was a used unit that came from NAPA. I have read that the cam phaser issue was fixed in 2005. I'd like to know if I can tell what year the engine is from the serial number and if so, where is the serial number.

Thanks for any help.

I just ran across this today. I see no one answered it. I don't know, but have you tried calling a wrecking yard? I would think those guys would know.

I sent a message to a guy I know that works at NAPA. Hopefully he can help me out.
