I'm still driving an old '88 but I think the bodies on the '04-'08 gen trucks are prettiest that Ford has ever built.

The only complaints that I've heard of except those listed above are from people with chronic issues that all car makers sometimes have. Every now and again, one will be doomed from the start.

There are things to consider. The '09's are already making it to the used car lots. Many improvements such as MPG's, larger variety of axle ratios and engines and the interior is larger on the Screw. But, that front end is still killing me.

That's why I was looking for 06-08. I'm not a fan of the front of the new ones and come to think of it of the tailgate either. I don't even like the script/font of the 4x4 on the rear fender or the F-150 in the badges.

I had a 06 for almost two years with 93k miles and went through 6 fuel pumps. Other then that I had no problems, but I think I got myself a lemon truck. Now I have a 2008 f-250 and couldn't be happier.

That's the chronic issue that I was talking about. These things must be built in batches as I had 2 bad pumps from a certain source, then I bought a pump from another source and haven't had any issues.

Congrats, you'll be happy. I've owned nothing but Fords my whole life, actually have a Ford tattoo on my arm. I've owned ford trucks from the 60's all the way through, and don't believe any other truck comes close. Right now I've got a 69 Bronco, 86 Bronco, 76 F250 4x4, 06 Scab, and a 08 F350 PS, all 4x4. The 04-08 is by far the best looking truck ever made, IMO. Also my favorite for about everything except heavy duty working, the diesel shines there. These new 1/2 tons are capable of more than most of the earlier (90's models) 3/4 tons as far as pulling capacity. The ride and drive better than most of the cars made in the 70's, let alone the trucks made then. I bought my 06 to replace a 2000, and it is used as my family car. This one has the limited slip rear with 3.73 gears, so it has good power and goes great off road. They may be a little underpowered compared to the others, but they outshine them everywhere else. And IMO, underpowered compared doesn't mean underpowered. They aren't the fastest but still have plenty of power for most anything, including big smoky burnouts. And way more power than the bigger 351's from the 70/80's. Once again, congrats, you're gonna love your truck!

Thanks guys. We already love the truck. I've already bought the first parts for it as well. Ordered 5" step bars and Lariat chrome grill today.

Hey folks,

I'm looking also. Can't remember having anything but Ford trucks in the family. My last was a 91 F250 4x4 that just used too much gas (too bulky for the short trips I was using it for and not nice enough for a daily driver).
Looking for 07-08 4x4, 4dr (or the 1/2 suicide doors), tow package (hardest job will be a 2 horse trailer (2 ton with surge brakes). Commute will be mostly good highway.
Any idea what I can expect to pay and gas mileage (empty) to expect?

Thanks,

Dave

Depending on your driving style and where it's driven, you could reasonably expect to get close to the EPA ratings for fuel mileage. I haven't checked my city only mileage, but highway I get high 17's not towing and 9.5 to 10 towing my 7000lb. enclosed car hauler. Back and forth to work which is 75% highway, I get mid to high 16's. I have an 06 XLT 4x4 E/C with a 5.4L engine with 3.55 L/S axle.

Price will greatly depend on what trim you are wanting and mileage. I found a very wide range of prices depending on those factors.
