Intake manifold R & R

Have to replace my intake manifold gaskets. Anyone have any experience or warnings when doing this? I have one leaking a little bit of coolant that's getting onto the left side spark plugs.

i did it about a month ago. there is an aluminum crossover water pipe under the manifold that had bad seals on mine. it damaged the plastic manifold and i had to repair it. not too bad of a job, but you got to lean over the hood for 3 hours to get everything apart. i took apart on saturday, cleaned and repaired, then assembled sunday am. couple bolts at the back are a little hard to get to, but doable. also check out the vacuum hoses and electrical plug at back of the manifold. just pull a couple inches forward , then disconnect, then lift off the manifold.

more info--- i pulled all the COPS and set to the side, i was installing new later. i pulled the fuel rails up off the injectors and tied them outward and did not disconnect from the supply line. i pulled each individual injector out of its hole so i could clean the injector external and relube o-ring for reinstall.

I got mine off without removing the fuel injectors or the rail. I pulled the COPS, disconnected the wiring harness and moved it back, disconnected everything else that had an off-manifold connection, had my boy to help me lift, and lifted it up and forward. It's not heavy, just cumbersome. We were also using those tire mounted steps to ease the strain being that far into the engine compartment....

Intake R & R

Wow, thanks for all the insight guys. I really appreciate it. I am ordering some Ford "factory" manuals tonight off of ebay. These are the genuine dealer paper manuals. I've tried the Haynes but they are very vague. I figure the factory manuals should be pretty clear. Any of you use them or have a preference? I'll probably start it one night next week. I have too much work this week and weekend to down it just yet. Man this has been a great truck !! Been a Ford man my whole life but his is the best one yet. 230K with next to nothing wrong with it. I do stay on top of regular mx though.

just be sure to take the crossover aluminum water tube off the bottom of the manifold and inspect the faces and o-ring seal. There is not gasket on the water pipe, just a groove with an o-ring type seal.

I haven't tried any of the factory manuals, but I use alldatadiy.com all the time. I don't think I could live without it at this point....
