I had a flat a couple months ago with no spare. It just so happened that the guy that owns the tire shop I went to had an extra rim so I could have a spare. I would keep checking ebay from time to time. I want to get an extra set so I can mount some hummer tires on them I'm running 33's right now, but it would be fun to play around with 37's. Plus there cheaper then the 33's. I payed $180 a piece for 33's and I can buy hummer tires off ebay for $100. I might have to lift the truck up a little or cut some of the fender off the front. I'll worry about it when I have more time.

Hit up 406YJ for those 37's, he has them for $65 each with really cheap shipping.

re 16.5 wheels unsafe???

if there so unsafe why does the military use them on all humvees and 1 1/4 ton trailers as far as not finding the 16.5 wheel/rim you can get new or used ones all over the place just off the top of my head stockton wheel in stockton cal.make and sales them all day long and if that dont work army surplus sells them off the humvees with the run flats and bead locks. just my 2 cents

> Any idea where to get one or two good 16.5 rims that will fit with my 33 16.5 12.50 tires?

I have between 10-12 used chrome ones, some painted black. 16.50 x 9.75. All hold air, they still have tires on them.

Tyres Int. carries new ones. You can mail order them from World of Wheels. Summit Racing might carry them too.

The only time I have seen someone get a tire blow out was a fool that would not listen to me and mounted warranty return 16.50 at the Ford dealer on his F-250 16" rims because they were "free" and new. Blew his truck off the lift, knocked him out, and broke his wrist. Other then that, those free tires were awesome

I have driven on pavement over a mile on a flat 33x12.50R16.50. It totally shredded the tire, but, it stayed on the rim. I might uploaded a picture of that. Got a few looks, but, I didn't want to stop in that area to change my tire.

I wouldn't stick my head over or in front of any tire while filling it up with air, I use a remote hose and gauge, especially with a 16.50. But, I do not consider them any more dangerous to run and the safety factor of the ply count, sidewall thickness, and load capacity make them a safer tire imho then most other tires.

I know there were things going back and forth about how dangerous 16.5 rims were on passenger vans that had blow outs at highway speed and the tire coming off, but, I think that is more driver error then anything. I run 33x15.50R16.50 on the rear of my 4x4 van. It sits for a month at a time and the Interco tires never lose air.

Rebo, and good 4X4 shop will be able to order you a set of rims. american racing has a wide variety of 16.5 rims available.
