I have read A LOT of these threads and alot sound like whats happening to me but not quite and i just want to be sure before I go spending loads of money on unneeded parts.
So i have a 93 f150 5.0 with dual tanks and the problem is I'll be running my truck on the front tank and the gas gauge reads accordingly, but when the gauge goes down to E the truck does not die.
At first i thought the gauge was just messed up but come to find out when i switched to my rear tank which was full, was now only half way full, so it was just running gas off of it.
So my question is what is going on? What needs to be replaced, checked. or fixed?
O yeah and it didn't use to do this, it just started after it was sitting for a couple months due to the transmission being out.
Yeah that's a new twist. What happens if you use the rear tank first?

Sounds like the front and rear fuel pump power wires got shorted together. Maybe something pinched the wiring while taking the transmission in and out.
