Looking for a bugshield

Need some help and feel free to post pictures. I'm in need of a bugshield for the front of my truck. In the past I have had Lund Interceptor on my 2000 Ford and the 2008 Chevy I had.

The 2000 Ford attached via screws but they were weak and stripped out. Had one flange break when the blower from the car wash was on it. The 2008 Chevy was the best. Nice and secure with no problems.

I went looking for the Lund again and they do make the interceptor but it appears that there are only 2 brackets on the outer edges and the rest is double sided tape. To me this doesn't sound secure and that it will stay. The window vents on my Chevy were coming loose after a year on there.

What brands are you using? How does it install? Pics would help if you have them.

Beechkid is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
Most of the deflectors I have seen cause damage (eventually) to the hood. Clear Bra is a vinyl material that is clear, covers the paint and protects from damage and is removable if you desire- applied like window tint. Clear bra is 3M trade name but others make this as well.

I had the dealer put on a Stampede bug deflector. I really like it on the XLT because it doesn't cover up the top part of the chrome grille. It provides good protection from stone chips on the front of the hood.

It's nice and tight unlike some others I've seen in there. I haven't had time to set things up to attach an image into the post but I've got some pictures of it in my album.

Do you have a link for your album? I try to view the gallery under your profile and it states it's not set up.

In the drop down menu on my profile, go to view public profile, that will take you to the page I have my album. I've got a couple pictures in there of my bug shield.

Pics of the deflector look good. What model of the Stampede is this? I'm in the market and want no drilling or taping! Thanx

Don't go with Lund. Had one installed shortly after this post. Spoke to Lund direct and they stated there was no tape. It was installed and questioned how the install went. The guy said it's more difficult with tape. What? The Lund is 95% tape.

A month later I notice that it's on wrong. Place won't stand behind it. By spring the lund will be off and a new place I found and bought my tonneau cover has one that goes under the grill. Don't know the brand though.

Actually I was going to go with Lund but I read too many bad posts here! I may just go with the Ford one.

I just installed the one from Ford and it was straight forward, with NO tape. Six different screws hold it on. I think the look compliments the lines of the truck. I'll try to snap a pic tomorrow evening.

It's the VP series from Stampede. I have had no issues with mine so far.

Assume the screw don't touch my paint in any way?? Pics would be great.

Excellent - Thanx!

Edit: Looked up the install instructions from Stampede. Looks like this is the one I'm going to get.

Just had the Stampede VP series installed. Wow night and day difference between the Lund. There was something wrong with the Lund and it sat closer to the passenger side of the hood compared to the driver side. Possibly installed wrong by the shop. Anyway I wasn't a fan of the tape.

I decided to take off the Lund on my own. Two outer screws and slight heat from a hair dryer and she popped right off. I was surprised that little tape was left on the grill.

Had the new place install the Stampede and it's more durable. It doesn't flex and move like the Lund did. I'm more happy with the Stampede. Also the Lund was $140 installed and the Stampede was $75 installed.

I like knowing the Stampede is all screwed in and no tape.

I bought the AVS deflector in 2007 ( pretty well identical to the Ford one). It attaches with six screws under the hood ( nothing on the paint) . It has been through car washes and hail storms and still looks great .

Problems is won't fit on the 09. For 09 AVS (owned by Lund) and Lund only offer taped shields.
