I just wondered if anybody else with the nav system has used this. I just figured out today that I was supposed to be getting it for free (part of 6 mo. trial period), but apparently the signal has been screwed up all this time. Anyhow, I only have about 2 weeks left on the free subscription, so I was wondering if anybody else has been using it, and if they think it's worth paying for the subscription. I think it's an additional $6/mo.
It is a great feature and i use he live weather map a lot. The fuel prices are also a great feature as when you get low it shows you the nearest fuel stations on it's own. Mine's been on for way over 6 months and as far as i know they sent a shut down signal at random times after the 6 months is up and if your truck is running when this signal is sent then your travel link will shut down. Also what else i found out was if you your self didnt register the sirius under your name and your delaer activated it then thats not part of your 3month/6month trial. When a dealer activates it they use there own plan that is like a demo mode until it shuts down. Call sirius when it shuts down and tell them that you have just bought the truck and would like to setup an account and have your free trial. If the system is not in your name and they ask you if it's been running just tell them that the dealer must have turned it on when you got the truck but it only worked for a few weeks then shut down.
Does the traffic feature work well with the navigation? For instance, if there is a wreck ahead, will it automatically alert you and offer alternative routes?
In my area it dont but im sure it does in more major areas. I have had it running from here to mrytle beach and didnt have any accidents or delays for it to detect.
If you regularly travel to places that are unfamiliar to you then it could be a wise investment. I stick to the same 200 mile stretch of road so I rarely use it. I know what the traffic is like, what the weather will be, and where to find cheap gas. The sports scores don't seem to work when I am im unpopulated areas. I will probably not renew mine.
I have managed to avoid a couple nasty freeway traffic jams with the realtime traffic and the gas prices/station finder is real nice on road trips. Also the POI finder is great also for finding other stuff. Also realtime weather I'm sure comes in very handy in some parts of the country!!
I use mine all the time and plan to re-subscribe. I play a lot of golf, so the weather maps come in very handy. Even though you have to be stopped in order to view, I also love the sport scores...very nice to have if you follow teams outside your area and if you're out running errands during games or on weekends.
I renewed mine about 2 months ago. I use it everyday for something. I like the weather when I am on my way to my farm to bowhunt. I get the wind speed and direction.
how much is it just for the travel link subscription?
I think I was quoted $5.99/mo. It was a little cheaper if you get a package for several months.

Not sure.
After using it going to work over the past few days, I've found that its traffic reports are pretty accurate and up to date. It may keep me from being late to work, so I might renew it.
# What is the cost of the services to the Ford vehicle owner?
* SIRIUS Travel Link is only available when the appropriate navigation and SIRIUS audio package is purchased, a six-month Sirius Travel Link data package is included as part of the package.
* After the six-month package, you can purchase all 5 services for $5.99/month, with a SIRIUS audio subscription.
