Scorpion67 is starting off with a positive reputation.
I had a drive of the 09 F150 XLT Crew 5.4. My ONLY complaint, was the 6 speed tranny took a while to shift down, when giving it all of my heavy right foot. In my current 02 Silverado, it feels instant. It wouldn't stop me from buying it (lack of funds compared to how many things I want to buy right now does). But I do hope they do (or already have) fixed the slow downshift in a program update.

was the 09 a rental? probably since you have chebby also. (probably needing working on) if it was you shouldve unhooked the battery and let the computer reset. then after a day or 2 the computer would learn your driving style and adjust all shift points accordingly along with many other things the computer adjusts.

No it was one I took for a test drive (joy ride). Only had one issue with the Chevy. The electric motor for the transfer case broke on me last winter, and needed a tow. Other than that, it's been pretty reliable. Can't beat those new F150s though. Hopefully the transmission is more reliable than the previous Fords. On the Australian Fords, the 6 auto is a German ZF. Is that the same for the F150, Expedition and Explorer?

I did alot of shopping today. Absolutely no luck finding anyone willing to sell a truck. I had made a post about it earlier...but looks like someone deleted it.

anyways, all of the Dealers are sitting on their trucks. I made an offer on a 09 Black/Grey stepside today. $39,020 MSRP. the absolute best I could get them to concede was $42,020 (MSRP+Adjusted Market value...aka Island Fees).
so then I said I would just use an X-plan on the truck. Takes it down to $35,000 instantly.

Their response...we won't honor the X plan at this time...all 3 Dealerships told me that.

1 of them has at least 20 F-150 4x4's sitting on the lot...and the Manager had the nerve to tell me that his inventory couldn't support an X-plan sale at this time.
I hate to say it...but I'm going to check out a Dodge Ram TRX-4 on Sunday. Chrysler is trying to move their stuff. I am a Ford guy through and through, but I ain't gonna put of with this bull****. I'll take my business elsewhere
So you want to get out of one dodge just to jump right back into another one?? Didn't you want out of the durango because it was a dodge?? Have you ever thought about buying one in the mainland and having it shipped to you?

ironic ain't it?

If I was trade-inless I'd fly home in an instant. But the trade has me chained down.

the Dodge comment was mainly a rant. I did check them out for about 5 minutes...but then I got sticker shock and walked off the lot. You get alot less truck for more money if you buy a Dodge.

I'm still negotiating on a 09 Mustang Bullitt and a 09 FX4. Even got a X-Plan PIN for the negotiations. We're within $1,000 of a deal on both vehicles. But both Dealerships are trying screw me on the Dodge to offset the "losses" they are having from me using the X-Plan.
I can afford the $1,000 they want...but now it's a matter of principle.

I'm so tired of the whole ordeal, that I'm sticking to my guns. I'm going to be 1 person they don't rip off...I think

Couldnt you just have one of them order you a truck to your specs and use the x-plan? Thats what I did. I couldnt find a truck that WASNT loaded lol! I'm more of an XL kinda trucker...not to interested in amenities. And as far as the looks I plan on completely redoing them myself anyhow so might as well save money up front with something I would have just swapped off anyhow.

btw, the rental F-150 is freakin' awesome.

my only complaint with the 4.6 3v is the low RPM power. It just doesn't quite have that grunt a 5.4 does.

but that is pretty much offset by 14-15 MPG city...and if you goose it, the motor is more than adequate...I'm in a 4x2 XLT Screw w/ 5.5' bed. Pretty decent for a Family DD that won't see much/any towing IMO

I'm an instant gratification type of person.

so figure on 2-3 months for a build

then figure at least 1 month for the shipping to Hawaii....not worth it to me in the end
