Mercedes Sprinter diesel engine

This is a question for Pablo UA the diesel guru. I just picked up a mercedes sprinter engine with a rod knock. It is a 2.7 5 cyl. It is missing the injection pump and intake but complete other than that. Can a non electronic njection pump and injectors be fitted to that engine? The bell housing and fllex plate look adaptable to another non mercedes trans? Regular Gas and Diesel are the same price where I live at $ 2.59/gal

Pablo-UA is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
what an engine? its code? if it is EWE engine - you can swap with flight weight ing. pump but with turbo controll, if it is common rail (HPFP on front end engine) you can use it with CRD controll unit only. Well, just do some shots and post here and I can hekp you.

The better way to get parts - UK JYs.

i'm home now and I have Mercedes EPS and WIS and I'm reasy to help you. I need engine # (ore picture of engine ID plate) ore VIN of donor van. If you are offered to get CRD engine get it with PCM + keys + Immo module (it is hidden beyoung the instrumental cluster) + diagnostic socket and wiring.

Do not try to read codes with simple OBD-II scanner becouse Mercedes use KWP2000 (k-lene) protocole to program and diagnose you need Mercedes Star Diagnose C3, anyway andy MB dealer ore Detroit Diesel dealer has it.

It it is EWE engine (you can identify it with fuel pump with 2 connectors + EGR + boost controll valve - all is vac. controlled and Cranck pos. sensor in bellhousing) you need bosch PCM only (no immo). But you can downshift removing EWE pump, EGR and boost controll and swap it with traditional mechanical fuel pump.
