Theft Light?

The other night went to get into my truck, put the key in and started it. Cranked and cranked but would not even attempt to fire. Got out and let it sit then tried starting with aftermarket remote start, just cranked. hopped in and tried starting again and noticed that while I was cranking it over the red theft light in the dash was flashing bright and while I was turning key, usually doesn't do that. Let it sit for about 10 min while I called the wife and said screw it what's one more try going to hurt. Turned the key, no flashing theft light and it fired right up. Had the truck for about 7 years now and it's never done that. WTH?

For about two years now, but it wasn't the blinking light for the viper system it was the factory blinking Theft light built into the gauge cluster

yeah i knew which one ya was talking bout... the reason i was asking is cuz ford recommends not using aftermarket remote starts on vehicles with the PAT's system on it... even though youve had it for 2 yrs it could still be the cause of the problem...

Ford has DTC's just for the pats system.. about the only way to find out which codes been tripped will be to take it in according to my BG book... if it wasnt for the fact my brother has my code scanner and book i could look to see if it can pick up the codes or not but cant atm... according to the BG book it says the anti-theft light will flash when your trying to crank it over when a code has been tripped... so i would say about the only option would be to have it taken in to let them find the problem...
