I would suggest pulling diagnostic codes first. Could be just a tune-up issue, could be more. You may have (a) malfunctioning sensor(s), ignition module problems, or it could be just as simple as a vacuum leak or the idle air control. The intake and IAC tend to get gunked up from the PCV, and the EGR is known to also be a problem spot. Could also be the MAP sensor, but could be related to a vacuum leak on that. Big thing to check is your codes and wiggle test all of your sensors and check your vacuum hoses. Another noted area of concern is the ground connections on the wiring harness and connections to/from the battery. These things are quirky when it comes to dirty ground / battery connections.
