Interior/running board lights will not turn off

Interior and running board lights will not turn off. Not a door latch problem because the 'door ajar' light in the dash is good. It self tests at start-up and comes on and off when doors/hatch are opened and closed. All door and hatch latches have been cleaned with WD-40. All 5 door lock actuators replaced within the past year. The lights just stay on all the time. The lights will not turn off when the truck is locked or when driving down the road. Also, the automatic timer does NOT shut them off. I have to pull a fuse under the dash to keep the battery from dying, however that same fuse controls the pwr windows and the shift lock. This is a real pain! I think it must be a relay...anybody have this problem or know which relay may be the culprit? Thanks in advance!

Actually, that was the first thing I asked the wife (and checked myself) when she reported the problem...switch is NOT in the manual position. Thanks!

The delayed accessory relay is #306. On your fuse cover you can see the # scheme to find it. You could try one of the other relays in its place to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks for the help. There is no relay #306 for my truck -- 2000 V-10 2wd. However, there is an accessory delay realy (Relay #5) in the fuse box under the dash. I swapped this out with the rear defroster relay (known good), but it did not solve the problem. There are also two smaller relays in the same fuse box (#1 -- Interior Lamp Relay, and #2 -- Battery Saver Relay) I swapped both of these with like relays from the fuse box under the hood. Again this did not solve the problem.

The Ex is now sitting on the side of the house as pulling fuses everytime we want to drive the truck is just plain annoying.

I really don't want to have to take this thing to a dealer. Anyone have any further suggestions?

Tried cleaning the contacts on the relays; disconnected the battery to reset the GEM/CTM. Nothing changed. At this point I think there must be something wrong with the GEM (Generic Electronic Module) as something is keeping the Interior Lights relay energized all the time. Running board lights are part of this circuit. There has been lots of discussion here about the running board lights corroding, but since they all work and not blowing a fuse, I don't see those as a potential problem. However, I will check/clean those sockets tomorrow just to see. After that I see no choice but to take it to the dealer to see it they can diagnose the problem.

Does your EX have the feature of delaying radio turnoff until you open a door, and if so, does that feature also fail?

I'll add to list of dumb things you likely already checked:
1) Open and slam your lift gate shut. Had me stumped one night at camping. I heard it latch completely, but it was shut so gently that it didn't make a connection.
2) Spray all your door latches and work them open and closed if #1) doesn't work. That was why the liftgate needed to be shut in a more manly manner

The delay feature for the radio works just like it is suppose to...no problems there. The rear hatch has been well-cleaned and I know it works properly because the "Door Ajar" light comes on and off when it is opened and closed.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I think this one has everyone stumped!
