95 F250 shuts off while driving

Hello, I hope to hear some ideas of what to test/try and thank you for answering
95 F250 351 V8 Auto 4x4 123K Miles

The truck will run and then shut off intermittently. Second time this happened while driving. I replaced the fuel pump relay in distribution box under the hood since I thought it might be too warm and the culprit. It didn't solve the issue.
when the truck is in the dead mode, it will crank, but I don't hear the whine of the fuel pump like I do under normal operating conditions. It is a dual tank and this issue effects either tank.

Under dead condition, I still crank and have gauge powering up everything too.

Any advice on ignition module in distributor going, or other thoughts greatly appreciate.

Thank you

I would guess that your PIP sensor in the distributor is bad.
So I would go ahead and read your CM codes and see if you have a code saying that also.
I take it you do here the fuel pumps run for one second when you first turn on the key and they do not run again while the engine is cranking when this happens.

Codes 211 & 212

Thanks for the reply. Yesterday I got the PIP sensor code thrown from a guy down the street with a scanner. He showed me the ignition module on the driver's side inner fender wall, attached to the heat sink as the PIP sensor. I got a new ingition module, put it in and broke down on the road again. The scanner now reads 211 and 212, PIP sensor and cylinder indicator?

Is the PIP sensor actually inside the distributo? As I re read your advice you say "in" . Did I replace the wrong part? Is there another module in the distributor itself?

I'd appreciate any leads I can get as I keep reading the haynes manual for some clues.
Thank you very much in advance

Yes the PIP sensor is inside the distributor.
Yes you replaced the wrong part, you replaced the ICM not the PIP sensor.

Thanks. He's a ford diesel guy. My haynes manual doesn't have a clear picture of it. Can I pull it out while keeping the distributor in or do I have to pull the distributor? Is it under that black metal plate in the distributor that I see?
Thank you

Most just replace the distributor.
You have to remove the distributor to replace it.
The distributor then has to be taken apart all the way to the last part to replace it.

The pip sensor is inside the Stator Assy.
This is the part (Stator Assy) that needs to be replaced:
