How Serious

could a problem be that causes code P1744 from my 2001 Lincoln Navigator? The transmission fluid level is fine.

A few more details. It still goes into lockup just fine. The code happened when traveling 75 mph and the OD Off lamp started blinking. Also when coming to a toll booth after the code happened the engine died but started just fine. Then later after turning off and starting the engine the lamp stopped blinking. After all this we completed a 300 mile plus road trip without any more strange occurances. Before the trip we have been noticing an intermittant slip when taking off from a stop. Felt like having one foot on the brake the other on the gas. Would usually do this after backing up then going to drive. Other than this the transmission feels normal
