seat swap

hey everyone i got an major dillema here. i dont like the way my stock bench seat sits. it is too high. i am considering putting in buckets but then i am only able to have one passenger and i might sit too low then. i really only want to come down a bit because i like the distance to the pedals i just hate that i have to force my leg under the steering wheel to get in. i migh consider a split bench out of a newer truck so the wife and kid can ride along but i need to know if anyone has had this problem and fixed it. and if so how they did it. is it possible to just lower the seat highth myself without a seat swap? if anyone has gone with buckets from another vehiclewhat are some good ones to look for i was thinking about some from an old lincoln if i can find some good ones at the local u pull it for relatively cheap. any input would be great. thanks

how tall are you? I am 5'9 and I fill like a little kid in my 77 F250. Maybe a tilt wheel would help.

I put a seat out of 90 Ford pickup in my 79, it's a bench seat with fold out armrest in the center of the seat, much more comfortable but it sits slightly higher than the factory seat, that could be due to my factory seat having sagging springs!

This install is really easy, The seat out of an 87 up to 93, (I think 93 was the cutoff year for that vintage truck), will bolt right in. You just unbolt the tracks from the factory seat, unbolt the tracks from the new seat, throw them away, and bolt the original factory tracks to the new seat.

Now the seat will bolt right into place since you are using the original factory tracks.

Actually the seats are the same all the way to a 96 f150 and 97 on the 250-350

Installing a smaller diameter steering wheel like a Grant GT will also give you more leg clearance between the steering wheel and the seat...

I thought about pulling the "captain's chairs" out of my Econoline to put in the truck but I'd run across the same problem as with buckets - I'd only be able to carry 1 passenger...

i am 6'2" and i have tree trunk legs when i am in the truck i am fine i have plenty of clearance but getting in and out i have to force my way past the wheel. i dont really like the idea of a smaller wheel i kinda like my big ol' wheel. how do i go about puting in a tilt system? otherwise i would love to have ea split bench if anyone knows of one that bolts up and is slightly shorter
