Replacing a bed on a 1998 F150

Hello!

I recently was hit on the rear of my truck damaging the area on my bumper between the rear wheel and the back bumper. I will be receing a check to fix this.

Before I take it to the body shop though, I was looking around for a totally new bed. I have a styleside bed and am thinking of converting it to a flareside. Is this even possible? I know I will need the different bumper and different tail lights. Is there anything else different?

Since no one else has shed light on this thread why not throw something out there.

I think it is possible. just the matter of new taillights and bumper. you're replacing the tailgate too correct? although they may be the same. the only thing that has to line up are the mounts.

Wow, nice truck! That is exactly what I need, a crew cab.

I think the tailgate is different on the flareside bed as well.

monckywrench has a good reputation on FTE. monckywrench has a good reputation on FTE.
I'd just get the whole bed from salvage in one shot, bolt it on and be good to go.

Figure on spending about a grand for a nice one.
