I did pretty much the same thing, except I used an upfitter switch. I like to be able to almost blindly reach over and turn her off with a quick flip of the upfitter switch! I found this useful on our recent long road trip when we'd take a bit of a side trip to grab some fuel and the GPS would keep interrupting. If we were in tight quarters I could turn her off without any effort at all, and keep my eyes looking out.
