With the 6 speed, the 4.30's are not bad at cruising. I am at 1900rpm at 75mph, thats just above where my F150 was at with the 5.4l and 3.73's. At slower speeds, I think the higher gear actually helps mileage as you are not ******* the motor as much in any gear.

With a double overdrive trans, anything less than the 4.30's would be dissapointing to me. There is a big difference in "seat-of-the-pants" feel between 2 exact 11' superdutys, 1 with the 373 and the other with 430's....my brother has the identicle truck with the 3.73 gears. Feels like a different truck, and after a ride in mine, hes very dissapointed in his choice. Thing is, he is averaging about 13mpg over the same time span, so almost no difference between his and mine. I guess they just suck the gas alot worse than expected.
