A carb with recirculating electric pump is called 'hot fuel handling' and usually incorporated where the truck was delivered to a climate known for vapor lock.

Check to see if there is gasoline in your oil if you suspect that a mechanical pump has failed.

My fried bought a 87 f350 dually and i t had no mechanical pump but a electric one. The relays constantly went bad. That and there vas an overfueling valve right on the carb that returned unneededd fuel to the tank so not to flood the engine. That thing to a crap every other year and would starve the engine when pulling hills w hay wagons
