Can't get my key-in-ignition warning to stop beeping, even with the key out! Help!

My sister has a 2001 Ranger, ext. cab, V6, 4.0, 4x4, auto.

Whenever I open the door to leave, the truck does its beep-beep-beep sound (as if I left the key is in the ignition), even when the key is out.

I know this is a rather common problem on Fords, as it happens to both my buddy's 93 Ranger and my 90 F250, except on those I can usually jiggle the ignition and it'll stop.

However, on my sister's 01 Ranger, I cannot get it to stop beeping whenever I open the door.

I don't want to completely disable this function, but I'd just like for it to work properly. What can I check here, or what should I clean/replace?

Thanks,

Joe
