you order a replacement switch, costs about 7 bucks....i just did this same thing about two weeks ago on my '93, works great now

Dorman makes them, you can order from LMC truck, Oriellys, or pretty much any auto parts store....DO NOT go to the dealer,
they want about 30 bucks for the exact same thing....
