Headlight and taillight blackouts are illegal in almost all states now for on-road use. (Some states will let you slide with the slotted styles.) Also having the body shop smoke your factory lenses is illegal in most areas. The smoke style lights you can buy off Ebay and from other retailers are usually legal as long as they have a DOT number on them.
